The Foundation of Wisdom (Perspective & Patience)

Wisdom on digital platforms often means knowing what not to react to...
It is the ability to zoom out when everyone else is zooming in..
The Bamboo Farmer
There is a species of Chinese Bamboo that tests the patience of any farmer. You plant the seed, water it, and fertilize it for an entire year. Nothing happens.
You do the same for the second year. Still nothing breaks the soil.
Third year. Fourth year. Nothing. It requires immense discipline to keep watering patches of bare dirt. The neighbors will call you a fool.
Then, in the fifth year, a sprout breaks through. And in the next six weeks, that bamboo grows 90 feet tall.

The Insight:
Did the bamboo grow 90 feet in six weeks, or did it grow 90 feet in five years? It grew over five years. If at any point in those first four years the farmer stopped watering, the underground root network the foundation necessary to sustain massive height would have died.

The Forward-Thinking Shift: Stop measuring your success by today's visible metrics. Start measuring it by the strength of your unseen foundation.
